Program Objective

The Law School recognizes staff contributions supporting our educational and service missions.  The school will foster and sustain a recognition culture that will include ongoing formal recognition and performance based awards.  All School of Law faculty, staff and students may nominate a staff member.

All Award Recipients and Finalists will receive a certificate from the Dean(s), their nominations will be a placed in their HR file, and they will receive a monetary prize.

Recognition Criteria

The recipient must demonstrate outstanding accomplishments more than required in the job position that clearly warrant recognition in one or more of the following areas:

  • Positive, cheerful and cooperative attitude; contribution to the building of community and partnerships;
  • Creativity and initiative; integration of resources and information for increased effectiveness and efficiency; cost savings to the law school;
  • Assuming responsibilities and duties beyond those assigned;
  • Significant contribution to the mission of the law school;
  • Involvement, reliability, dedication and exemplary commitment as a law school staff member.

Types of Recognition

Staff Award Recipients (Formal Recognition)

Formal recognition is awarded biannually to individuals that exemplify University values, goals and objectives.  $3,200 annual budget per year.  Two (2) cash awards at $800.00 each to be awarded twice each year, spring and fall. A total of 4 awards of $800 to be awarded every year.

Finalists (Formal Recognition)

Finalists are awarded biannually and at the same time as Award Recipients.  They are held to the same standards and nomination processes as Award Recipients.  $1,000 annual budget per year. Up to five (5) finalist prizes awarded twice a year as a $100 gift card each. Up to ten (10) $100 gift cards awarded per year.  These are non-redeemable for cash. 

Informal Recognition

The school recognizes informal recognition is an important aspect of recognition and encourages you to acknowledge staff member’s accomplishments and contributions. Personal acknowledgments can take many forms such as notes, cards, email, formal memorandums, and certificates of appreciation. Informal recognition does not need to be processed through the Recognition & Rewards Committee.

Program Funding

This program is funded annually by the Law School.

Awards Ceremony

The awards are presented each year at a spring/summer staff event and winter holiday gathering (December). It is recommended R&RC coordinate with the Staff Advisory Committee (SAC) to jointly hold award receptions and staff events. Food and drink are paid through SAC budget.
